Here’s the NET Bible translation of today’s text:

11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how fathomless his ways!
11:34 For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?

I read the novel The Shack last summer and even though it certainly has its share of theological shortcomings, I especially appreciated the way it presented the inappropriateness of sitting in judgment of God. We see things only from our limited perspective, whereas God sees everything.

As Bob noted on Sunday, it would be ridiculous to think that God needs correction by us or advice of any kind. That would be like our new intern Amanda’s pet betafish telling us how we need to re-arrange the youth office! The fish is seriously limited in its perspective, vantage point, and its ability to grasp what the office is all about! Silly!

What do we know of God’s sovereign arrangement of the universe? Like the fish, next to nothing. All we can do is join Paul in reflecting on the greatness of God and standing in awe of Him! Let’s think on that today!
