12:1 Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice – alive, holy, and pleasing to God – which is your reasonable service. 12:2 Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God – what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.

It’s been a great week of deep study. By way of review, I’m going to end this week with my own paraphrase of the passage.

Since God has shown so much mercy to us, the only reasonable and worshipful response is that we present our whole selves to God as a sacrifice–one that is living, acceptable, and holy. We’re not to allow ourselves to be seduced by our current culture’s thought patterns, rather we are to surrender ourselves to God’s transformational mindset. By doing this we substantiate that God’s will is good, well-pleasing and perfect. (MFV) Mark Forstrom version.
